On the floor of the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by wooded and bushy grassland, lies the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park. Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching, hiking, picnic and game drives. One of the most breathtaking sights within Lake Nakuru National Park is the massive flock of flamingos that fringe the shores of the soda lake. With thousands of these elegant birds creating a pulsing pink swathe of life, their presence is truly a remarkable spectacle. As you explore further, you’ll discover that the park is also a sanctuary for rhinoceros. Both black and white rhinos can be spotted here, often seen resting under the shade of acacia trees along the lake shore.
The park abounds with a diverse range of game species. You can expect to encounter huge herds of waterbuck, zebra, buffalo, and even the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. Furthermore, Lake Nakuru National Park offers one of the best opportunities for leopard sightings in Kenya, and it is home to several large prides of lions.
Despite its relatively compact size of 188 square kilometers (162 square miles), Lake Nakuru National Park offers excellent accessibility and easy game viewing. The interior roads are well-maintained and easy to navigate, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable wildlife viewing experience.
